  • 13th July 2013

We are now live and taking applications for this year's Oxford Moonlight Stroll

This year's event takes place on the 13th July and will have a sci-fi theme so pull on those Darth Vader costumes, don your Doctor Who scarves and join us on a Starry Trek through the streets of Oxford in aid of the Sobell House Hospice Charity!

  • Mark and Ace at Spires Mobile Tyres have been supporting us for a few years by keeping our fleet of Sobell vans on the road, along with the Hospice car at no cost to us.  They also display posters for us and sponsor events.

  • J & J Roofing & Building chose Sobell House Hospice Charity as their nominated Charity in 2009.  The company specialise in EPDM flat roofs and cover all aspects of roofing including slating and tiling, liquid plastics, lead work, guttering, UPVC fascias and soffits, rendering, pointing etc.

Lynda King, Managing Director of the company said, “We chose Sobell House as our nominated charity as we wanted to support a local charity which reaches out and helps the community we work in.  Also I feel the people who work at the hospice are dedicated & do a fabulous job and do not always get the profile or recognition they deserve.  My mother is a volunteer at the hospice so I know how hard they work, they are phenomenal”.

The company support us in a number of ways, for example, by giving company donations, taking part in our events and sponsoring a page of our yearly calendar.

  • The Clydesdale & Yorkshire Bank partnership with Help the Hospices started in 2008.

May 2010 saw the banks’ employees reach an incredible milestone of raising £1,000,000 in just over two years for Help the Hospices, and local hospices throughout the UK!

The banks’ employees have raised this tremendous amount – which includes a top up from the banks’ matched funding pot – through an array of fundraising activities, including midnight fun runs, marathons, quiz nights, abseils, and Santa dashes at Christmas. The fantastic efforts of the banks’ employees equate to raising an incredible £1,734 for each day of the partnership.

Many employees have also been hands on with their local hospice and have volunteered a total of 1,000 days, or 8,000 hours of their time across the year, to help out with various tasks such as garden make overs, helping with hospice mail shots, and marshalling at events.

Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks’ network of more than 340 head offices, branches and business centres are twinned with local hospices in their area. This allows employees to get involved with fundraising and volunteering for hospices in their local communities as well as on a national level.

Clydesdale Bank in Botley have been supporting Sobell House Hospice Charity for more than two years now.

Even though the Help the Hospices Partnership has come to an end, Dignity continue to support us through sponsorship of events, displaying posters and general fundraising.

  • Help the Hospices and Saint Gobain Building Distribution (SGBD) kicked off their partnership with a Go Yellow week on 6 July 2009.  The partnership is called "Together" as it brings together SGBD employees, customers and suppliers to help support a charity partner.

Each SGBD branch has been twinned with a local hospice in their area, allowing employees to fundraise and volunteer directly for their local hospice.

SGBD are leaders in the design, production and distribution of materials for the construction, industrial and consumer markets. Their most well known branches Jewson and Graham Operations make up the bulk of branches involved in this partnership, although all the SGBD brands are involved. The partnership will last for two years ending in July 2011.

Sobell House Hospice Charity have been matched with Jewson Bicester, Abingdon and Wheatley and Graham Operations Abingdon and Cowley.
