  • The Help the Hospices partnership with The Midcounties Co-operative has doubled its original target and raised an amazing £208,000 in just one year!

The partnership was extended for an additional year making Help the Hospices The MIdcounties Co-operative's charity partner from 2009 through to Febaruary 2011.

From bag packing to skydiving, car washes to cake sales, plus marathon runs, a sponsored walk and a 100 mile cycle ride, a variety of fundraising events have boosted funds for the partnership. The Midcounties Co-operative food stores, travel branches, pharmacies, funeral homes, childcare nurseries, and post offices have all got behind the campaign. A till giving weekend alone raised £22,000, while a fun day, a charity ball and many sponsored activities have all added to the funds raised.

Employees have also given their time, and offered practical support through volunteer projects.

The partnership benefited Help the Hospices and 11 local hospices in The Midcounties Co-operative trading area, one of which was Sobell House Hospice Charity.  The total donated to Sobell House by the end of the partnership in February 2011 was an amazing £26,000!
