Sobell House Hospice Charity is committed to protecting your privacy and security and is registered in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 (registration number Z9938431). The Charity will not disclose, or pass on, your personal details to any third party without your permission.

The personal information provided by you and held on our database will only be used by us for the purpose/s it was originally provided, and to supply you with information about our future activities that may be of interest to you. We will ensure that all our communications allow you to ‘opt out’ or ‘unsubscribe’, should you wish, at any time.

What information do we collect and how do you provide consent?

When you access our website, to donate, subscribe to our newsletter and/or lottery, or buy something from the on-line shop, you will be asked for your name, address, telephone number and email address, as well as for the details of type of purchase you wish to make.

Similarly when completing a form to donate money, or to join our lottery, you will be asked for the same information and additionally be required to sign the form as authorisation.

Irrespective of how the information is collected you will always have the opportunity to advise us if you do not wish to receive any further information from us, either via any particular method (eg. post), or not at all. In the case of the latter, your details will only be included on our database for the purpose of recording your initial contact with us.

Should you be acting on someone else’s behalf, providing their personal data and not your own, you confirm by doing so that you have their consent.

What if the personal data you hold about me needs updating?

We are committed to ensuring that the data we hold is as accurate and current as possible and that a simple, straightforward process is available to you to correct/update any of your personal details. Simply use whichever of the following methods you prefer, giving us your full name and address, and identifying the data that requires amendment and we’ll do the rest, and then confirm the change to you.

Payment Security?

Depending on the type of transaction you make, you may be passed through to a company called Securetrading (for lottery and donations) or to Paypal (for purchases through our online shop).  They provide secure payment gateways to receive your payment and pass it on to us.  To ensure your financial security, we do not log any payment card details on our database.

How do I find out what information you hold about me?

In accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998, we are happy to provide you with a copy of any information that we hold about you.  Please contact the Charity Office in writing, at Sobell House Hospice Charity, Churchill Hospital, Oxford, OX3 7LJ, if you wish to see this information.
