Emily Boardman, Partner at Turpin & Miller LLP - ongoing support

Turpin & Miller LLP have chosen Sobell House as one of our nominated charities for a number of reasons; one of our long standing staff members was cared for by Sobell House at the end of her life, and many of us visited her there and saw the way the staff looked after her and how much they did for her. We are a firm committed to supporting our local community and we look forward to raising money for such a worthwhile charity.

Chris Williams from Oxford United - ongoing support

Oxford United are very proud to work alongside Sobell House. Each time the players and management visit they come away feeling very moved and very humble to see such fantastic work going on in such a wonderful environment.  Footballers are very privileged to do the job they do but they also appreciate the team work and the professionalism that everyone at Sobell contributes. It is a pleasure for the club to be friends with Sobell House and to be working alongside them.

Catermasters - Charity of the Year June 2011 - 2013

As a provider of catering for Sobell House Hospice, we are proud to support the charity.  We have first hand knowledge of the excellent work that Sobell House does, and the difference it makes to not only the patients who are terminally ill, but also their families.

Fundraising is so important to them and they really help and support Catermasters in achieving our target.  They are truly grateful for any support and donations, no matter how small.  All staff are warm and friendly which is a real credit.

Sainsbury's Westgate - Charity of the Year May - 2011 - June 2012

Each year every Sainsbury’s Store chooses a local charity to adopt as their Charity of the Year. Every store seeks and receives nominations from colleagues and members of the public as to a charity to adopt.

In 2011, Sainsbury’s Westgate received a number of nominations for Sobell House, and Kelly from Sobell House made a very informative presentation to the store colleagues. The charity was chosen as a number of colleagues had experience in the past of the work Sobell House did.

Colleagues wanted the opportunity of giving something back to Sobell House and to support the Hospice by fundraising, enabling its fantastic work with people affected by terminal illness to continue.

It has been the stores privilege to work with this outstanding charity and to support its work with local people affected by terminal illness.

Dan Channer from Finders Keepers - Charity of the Year 2009

“The company chose to work with Sobell House Hospice Charity following an all-staff vote for its first ever Charity of the Year. We wanted our team to choose a charity which they believed in. The Sobell House team responded to our approach with enthusiasm and purpose. They have a ‘can-do’ attitude and are adept at listening to a firm’s objectives and adapting accordingly.”

Lisa Wraight from Infineum - Charity of the Year 2009

“We chose to work with Sobell House Hospice Charity because we'd heard lots about the excellent work they do in Oxfordshire and wanted to contribute to this. It was a real pleasure working with the staff, being involved in various fundraising events and helping to raise awareness of the Charity. After visiting the Hospice we quickly appreciated that with only a little effort on our part we could help the Charity continue to provide amazing support to the community.”

Daren Elsley from Artisan Litho - Charity of the Year 2010

“Artisan Litho are well aware of Sobell House and the tremendous support it offers to those who need that extra special care.  Several of us have experienced the support it gives to patients and to the family and friends affected.

Being located and dealing with many business and people within Oxfordshire we have decided to contribute and support Sobell House through Sponsorship and Charity Events.  Through this we want to help Sobell House continue the invaluable work it does within Oxfordshire.”

Lynda King from J & J Roofing & Building - ongoing Charity of the Year

“We chose Sobell House as our nominated charity as we wanted to support a local charity which reaches out and helps the community we work in.  Also I feel the people who work at the hospice are dedicated & do a fabulous job and do not always get the profile or recognition they deserve.  My mother is a volunteer at the hospice so I know how hard they work, they are phenomenal.”

James Woollard from Polythene UK - ongoing Charity of the Year

“We have been actively looking for a local charity to help and work with in the future.  Sobell seemed to be the most proactive team and we have enjoyed helping them on a number of projects already so it was an easy decision for us to commit to working with them to raise as much cash as we can for many many years to come.”

Georgina from Rent A Gardener - ongoing Charity of the Year

“Rent A Gardener thought long and hard before making a final decision on our chosen Charity of the Year. The team at Sobell House show dedication, understanding and genuine care, nothing is too much trouble. We are delighted to select a very special cause which helps the people of Oxfordshire. Our selection of Charity of the Year is important to a company of our size but whatever we do is minor compared to the great work of Sobell House.”

Julian Banville from Oxford Brookes University - volunteer group

“As a representative of Oxford Brookes University I was looking to try and get our office more involved with local community projects and in the summer of 2010 we agreed to spend the day helping Terry with the gardens at Sobell House.

As well as helping with the garden we were shown around the hospice to see the wonderful work done by all the staff at Sobell.  We know that our contribution was only small by comparison, however everyone agreed that our away day was not only worthwhile but a very humbling experience too.  The Accommodation Office at Oxford Brookes University are proud to continue our association with Sobell House Hospice and happy to promote the amazing achievements and work that they all do.”

Martin McNamara from Clydesdale Bank - Help the Hospices partnership

“Clydesdale Bank in Oxford have been proud supporters of Sobell House in recent years.  As our relationship has deepened, we have become increasingly aware of the wide variety of ways in which we can help – sometimes very small initiatives can have a far greater impact than imagined.

We have also realised that support doesn’t just mean raising money – although that helps!  They value the time we can give just as much; and working together has enhanced teamwork and collaboration across our office.”

Giles Hammond from Malmaison Oxford - ongoing local Charity of the Year

"For the last few years, Malmaison Oxford has helped to support the Sobell House Hospice as our designated local charity. Having had a number of requests to support other chairities, we felt the need to help support a true charity that made a difference within Oxfordshire and help the lives and families of those who are terminally ill.

Their eagerness to come and visit us and provide all staff with information, and the opportunities to visit the hospice to get a true idea and reflection of the charity was very heart warming, and showed the staff at Malmaison how important our fundraising would be, and how beneficial it would be for the day to day running of the hospice"
