Lights of Love 2011
Thank you to everyone who took part in the 2011 Lights of Love. The appeal raised around £18,000 for the Hospice, and about 800 people attended the service on Saturday, 10th December.
This was the 16th Lights of Love event, and we were lucky to have a bright, dry afternoon. The service was conducted by the Hospice Chaplain, Bob Whorton, and included readings from Dr Mary Miller and Carrie Bruce, the Head of our Bereavement Service. There was musical accompaniment from the Jubilee Brass Band, Headington Singers and Bob Heath, our Music Therapist. The service was extremely moving, and we lit the beautiful tree, which carried over 1,000 messages.
We receive a lot of help from the local community for the Lights of Love service, and would like to thank Timbmet for providing the beautiful tree, SEC for helping with dressing the tree, Dignity Funeral Services for sponsoring the printing, and the staff of the Churchill Estates Department for all their assistance.
