Wantage goes Decathlon Crazy with Ray Collins

Ray Collins will turn Wantage Decathlon crazy on the 1st of July as he attempts his own version of the 10 event pinnacle of athletic prowess.
For the last couple of years Ray has held a funday event in Wantage to raise money for a whole host of charities and this year he will be fundraising for Sobell House.

 Ray explains: "on sunday 1st of july i will attempt my version of a decathalon the toughest of all olympic events my version will be totally different from the original it will consist of a 5k run,6k row,7k xtrainer,40k bike,1500m run plus 5 strongman events,1 tonne bench press,farmers walk,truck pull,barrell loading tricep challenge. During the day hundreds of local children and adults will take part in various sporting displays and challenges with an olympic theme there will also be giant inflatables,f1 and motorbike simulators,roller bikes,a funfair,bbq,pigroast and a giant bake sale 15 charity stalls,soccer skills,rugby skills ,martial arts demos ,tfd gymnasium 3hr class medley OLD SCHOOL RELAY(ICKNIELD,SEGSBURY,KING ALFREDS)PLUS 999 EMERGENCY SERVICES RELAY,LIVE MUSIC plus lots more.

All this is to raise much needed funds for Sobell House(which provides outstanding levels of end of life care and much needed family support),Breast Cancer(i have three friends recently recovered detection rates are on the up and survival rates are to we must keep this going the right way),Wantage Day Centre (elderly care ,a warm meal,friendly faces and lots of fun)and Wantage IAC (subsidised hospital car trips)
